A day spent at the March gala, feat. last outing by 1450 and the Autocoach. Visiting Turkish 8F, EWS Red 8F (on loan for a year) were among the working fleet today. A visit round the normally out of bounds shed was welcomed. Thanks to Fred. Nice to see progress on 73156.
A nightshoot with aircraft was Stuart's next outing at the Yorkshire Air Museum. Newly repainted Dakota, Tornado TR4 prototype amongst the collection.
A day spent on the Mid Hants railway with newly outshopped U class No. 31806. A few teething problems due to a loco not run in properly lead to a stuck whistle and drain cocks leaking. But a great day was had dispite this hiccup.
70013 'Oliver Cromwell' returned to mainline duty 12/03/11. It's first railtour since May 2010, saw the loco move from Loughborough by road 7th March ready for this trip - The Lincoln Imp where Stuart saw the trip at Normanton on Soar. The loco was sounding off beat but working well.
Following the repaint of 3850 into BR Black, Don organised a photocharter at the GCR. Our charter was more successful with the weather than Mr H's charters using the engine :-). The sun appeared for a few hours. Many thanks to Don, Jason and the GCR for a great day.
Collection of railtours and general railway images from the UK national rail network. Recent outing saw GWR Hall 4965 'Rood Ashton Hall' work a Valentines circular trip around the midlands. Saw it three times at Croft, Hathern & Willington. Only the last place did the sun stay out long enough to get the sunny shot.
Banbury X - The annual January winter gala feat return of 3717, first time for 1450, 5526, autocoach 178 and GWR 2884 No. 3850 following the excellent repaint by Ernie given the weather and duff paint to use... I shall say no more. Supplemented by 45305, 30777 and final appearance by 61994.
Autumn Deer - I spent a day at Bradgate Park hoping to get a couple of autumn deer pictures. However, I am amazed by the number of deer that was close to the public spaces, close enough to get some really decent pictures.
Great Central Railway - The annual autumn steam gala featured past resident 71000. Also 61994, Morayshire, J72 - Joem and returning from a 4 year absence 45305 after a long drawn out contract boiler overhaul.
Severn Valley Railway - The annual autumn steam gala celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the railways opening in 1970. Guest locos for the event were past residents 3205, 5690, 3717. Visiting another preserved line for the first time was BoB No. 34070 "Manston". Some great set pieces using LMS liveried Leander with the 1930's LMS Stock & 3717 on the GWR stock made a refreshing change. The gala timetable was excellent. Some railways should learn from this... Just a shame Bridgnorths pilot wasn't steam.
North Norfolk Railway - The annual autumn steam gala saw a return of GCR based N2 deputising for Rogers 3F 47406. Also NRM owned King Arthur 30777 Sir Lamiel, 92212 and 44767 completed the line up of guest engines.
West Somerset Railway - A recent holiday to Somerset has taken in this beautiful railway set in the Quantocks.
Mainline - Recent outings to see steam on the mainline in July, has seen Royal Scot 46115 on the Cotton Mill and the King 6024 at Hatton Bank.
